Australian Life Jacket Regulations
Australian Life Jacket Regulations
We have many different waterways throughout Australia, and each one comes with slightly
different rules and regulations. We want you to stay safe out on the water, and we have the
perfect jacket for every occasion. On this page you will find all the information you need, so
that you know you are buying the perfect life jacket for your area and activity.
Jetpilot jacket are available in 2 x ratings: L50 and L50s with both options being made to Australian standards: AS 4578.
L50 VESTS are characterised by their high visiblity colourways above the
shoulders in Red, Yellow and Orange. They can be worn in both smooth and partially
smooth waterways and open waterways when on a personal water craft.
The high visibility colours make it easier to see you in the water and increase your chances of rescue.
L50S VESTS are available in a wider range of colours and styles and are designed for use in enclosed, smooth water only.
They are popular for activities such as wakeboarding, waterskiing, tubing and wakesurfing.
Please note, this video was shot for Queensland. The regulations in your state may differ.
The laws can and do change, so make sure that you are always up to date on the regulations in your area.
THE PERFECT FIT
Getting the perfect fit for your life jacket will not only make for a more comfortable experience, but will ensure that it will correctly float you once you are in the water. An incorrectly fitted life jacket might not float you, or may slip off in the event of a high-sped crash. Check out our full sizing guides below.
