The full rundown on Mens Singlets
Mens singlets for the arvo after the water
A singlet is the most honest shirt in the range: no sleeves, no collar, nowhere to hide a cheap fabric. Jetpilot cuts its mens singlets in 1x1 cotton rib, the ribbed knit that sits close to the body and flexes with it, with a multi-colour screen-printed graphic on the front and an internal screen-printed label so nothing scratches the back of your neck under a vest strap. Close, contemporary fit, S to 3XL. It goes on at the ramp when the rashie comes off, and it stays on until the esky is empty.
Singlet, muscle tee, tank top
Same shirt, different postcode. Australians say singlet, the Americans say tank top, and a muscle tee is the version with deeper armholes and wider shoulders. Whatever you call it, the job is the same: cover the chest, free the arms, cop the sun on the shoulders. The Tribal Singlet is the current cut, an old-school tribal graphic from the Tribal collection printed to last, and it sits in the same rail as the tees, so the graphic changes with the drop and the rib does not.
Built from cotton rib, not jersey
Most singlets are a tee with the sleeves cut off. This one is knitted as a singlet: 1x1 cotton rib is flexible by construction, so it sits close and still lets the arms go wherever the tow rope or the esky lid sends them. The screen print is heavy enough to stay vivid through a season of washes, and the internal printed label means there is no tag to cut out on the first wear. Wash it cold, dry it out of the sun, and it lasts the summer and the one after.
On the water, it is the second layer
A singlet is not sun protection. On the ski, the boat or the tube, a rated rashie goes on first, the AS 4758 approved life jacket goes over it at the level your state requires, Level 50S at minimum on a PWC, and the singlet waits in the ute for the drive home. The mens rashies page has the rated styles with UPF 50+ on the product page. Shoulders that got burnt at eleven are shoulders that ache under a vest at two.
Fit
Close, on purpose. Rib is built to sit near the body, so buy your size for the singlet look and go up one if you want air through it. Size off a chest measurement with the size guide: S to 3XL, and the rib means a big bloke gets a singlet that fits rather than one that flaps.
The rest of the rail
Boardies at the beach, walkshorts at the pub, a hoodie over the top when the southerly comes through. The tees and long sleeves are on mens t-shirts, boardies and walkshorts on mens shorts, and the whole street side on mens clothing. Sleeves are optional. The rashie under the vest is not.
