Why the rashie goes on before the vest
Water throws the UV straight back at you and the breeze hides the burn until the drive home. Long sleeve covers the most skin, hooded adds the neck and ears, and the rating on the rated styles is on the product page, not a guess. A rashie also stops the vest rubbing on a long sesh, which is why it goes on first and comes off last.
How a mens rashie should fit
Snug enough that it does not float up when you get flung, loose enough to move. Rashies are cut close; hydro tees, sun shirts and polos are cut relaxed. Sizes run S to 3XL on most styles, the size guide has the chest measurements, and if you are between sizes on a rashie, go snug.
