What UPF 50+ means
Ultraviolet Protection Factor is the rating for fabric, the way SPF is the rating for sunscreen, and 50+ is the top of the scale: the cloth blocks the large majority of UV, wet or dry, for as long as it is on. Sunscreen fades and washes off; UPF is in the weave. Long sleeve covers the most skin, a hood adds the neck and ears, and a collar does the same on a fishing polo.

Rashie, hydro tee or polo
A rashie is the snug one: cut close so it sits flat under an AS 4758 life jacket and stays down when you get flung. A hydro tee is the T-shirt rashie in quick-dry Jet-Lite micro jersey, relaxed, easy over boardies between swims. A fishing polo or sun shirt adds a collar for the boat. All three do the same job in the sun; pick by how close you want it to sit and how long you are out.
Fit and sizing
The rating belongs to the fabric, so it does not change with fit, but a shirt that rides up is not covering the skin you bought it for. Rashies snug, hydro tees and polos relaxed.
