You Have Questions? We Have Answers!

What is a rashie, and why is it called that?

A rashie is the close-fitting stretch top you wear in the water, named for the rash a board or a wetsuit gives bare skin. Sun protection is the bigger reason to wear one now. Australians say rashie; rash vest, rash top, rash shirt and rash guard are the same thing.

Is a womens rash vest different from a womens rashie?

No. Same top, different name. What matters is the cut, and Jetpilot womens rashies are cut for a woman's shape rather than shrunk down from the mens: same spec language, same rating on the rated styles, a different pattern on the table.

Which womens rashie do I actually need?

Full day on the ski: the Pacer long sleeve in 8oz nylon and spandex, or the Cause and Corp long sleeves. No shade past midday: the Corp hooded rashie. On the boat over swimmers: a Pacer or Corp hydro tee. One decision for the whole day: the rash shirt and short set.

Are Jetpilot ladies rashies UPF 50+?

The rated styles are, and the rating is on each product page: the Pacer long sleeve rashie, the Pacer hydro tees and dri-fit tees and the rash shirt and short sets all carry UPF 50+. The Cause rashie has UV protection built into its fabric.

What is a womens rash suit or rash shirt and short set?

A matching long sleeve rashie and 2.5 inch shorts in quick-dry nylon and spandex with a wide comfort waistband, rated UPF 50+. The easy answer for boat days when you want one thing that does everything and stays put when you jump off the back.

Long sleeve or short sleeve for women?

Long sleeve rashie for a full day on the boat or the ski, hooded when there is no shade. For the hot arvo in and out of the water, the short sleeve Pacer dri-fit and Corp hydro tees are the relaxed, quick-dry option. If you only own one, make it long sleeve.

How should a ladies rashie fit?

Snug enough that it does not float up when you get flung, with room to move. The Pacer and Corp rashies are cut close; the hydro tees are relaxed and easier over swimmers. Sizes run 8 to 16, the Cause in 6/XS to 16/XXL, and the size guide has the measurements.

The full rundown on Women's Rashies

Womens rashies that stay out as long as you do

Sun off the water is doubled and the breeze hides the burn until the drive home. A rated rashie is the easiest protection you will put on all day, because it does not wash off at the first wipeout. Jetpilot womens rashies get the same spec language as the mens and the same rating on the rated styles; the only thing cut differently is the shape. Not the soft version. Hers.

Pick the one for the day

Pacer long sleeve rashie — the heavy hitter: 8oz nylon and spandex, tailored full-coverage cut, UPF 50+. The one for a full day on the ski.
Cause long sleeve rashie — raglan cut in 6oz stretch nylon and spandex with the printed stripe sleeve, Jet-Loc stitching where a vest rubs, UV protection built into the fabric.
Corp long sleeve and hooded rashies — the full-cover riding rashie, with a hood for the midday sesh when there is no shade on the water.
Pacer and Corp hydro tees — relaxed, quick-dry Jet-Lite micro jersey, easy over swimmers between dips; the Pacer is rated UPF 50+ and the Pacer dri-fit tee is the short sleeve micromesh version, also UPF 50+.
Rash shirt and short sets — matching long sleeve rashie and 2.5 inch shorts, quick-dry, UPF 50+, wide comfort waistband. One decision for the whole boat day.

Rashie, rash vest, rash top: same thing

Australians say rashie. Rash vest, rash top, rash shirt and rash guard are the same close-fitting stretch top, named for the rash a board or a wetsuit gives bare skin. The sun is the bigger reason to wear one now, and the UPF 50+ rating on the rated styles is on the product page, not a guess.

Fit and sizing, on her terms

Rashies are cut close so they stay put when you get flung and sit flat under a life jacket; hydro tees are cut relaxed. Sizes run 8 to 16, with the Cause rashie in 6/XS to 16/XXL, and the size guide has the measurements. Between sizes on a rashie, go snug; a loose one floats up round your ears on the first bail.

Wear it with

Under a womens life jacket on the ski, over neoprene ride shorts for the long sesh, and with the rest of the kit on the womens watersports page. Every rated piece across the range sits on UPF sun protection.
