Can you wear goggles on a jet ski?

You should. Once the ski is on the pin, spray comes in sideways and a face full of salt water is the end of the run. Goggles seal the spray out, cut the glare, and off the start line they are the difference between seeing the first buoy and guessing at it.

What are the best goggles for jet skiing?

For racing and hard riding, the Vault Vision race goggles: extra-wide vision frames, a large lens area for peripheral vision and 100% polarised lenses. If you wear glasses, the OTG RX Vault fits over them with polarised, anti-scratch lenses. For everyday riding, the H2O frameless goggles float and drain, so they clear water instead of carrying it.

Do jet ski goggles float?

The Vault Vision race goggles and the H2O frameless goggles both float, with foam inserts that keep them on the surface after a wipeout, and the H2O drains as well. The OTG RX Vault and the Shield 2-in-1 are not sold as floating, so clip a floating retainer on those. The Vault Vision and OTG RX Vault are race goggles with a 45mm elasticated strap and gel grippers printed inside, built to stay on your head, and the Vault Vision's foam inserts keep it afloat if it does come off. Are the lenses polarised?

The Vault Vision race goggles and the OTG RX Vault run 100% polarised lenses to kill the glare off the water, with an anti-scratch coating on both sides of the OTG lens. The black OTG RX Vault ships with clear and smoke lenses. The Shield 2-in-1 is rated to AS/NZS 1067.1:2016 and EN ISO 12312-1 for UV. Lens details are on each product page.

Can I wear goggles over prescription glasses?

Yes. OTG means over the glasses, and the OTG RX Vault goggle is built for exactly that, from the Vault race program. Check the product page for frame depth against your glasses.

Do the goggles fit under a helmet?

Goggles go on under the lid's chin strap with the goggle strap over the shell, the same as motocross. The OTG RX Vault and the H2O run a 45mm elasticated strap with gel grippers printed on the inside, so it stays put at speed.

Sunglasses or goggles for a jet ski?

Sunnies stop glare. They do not stop spray. Cruising the bay, sunnies on a floating retainer are fine. Riding hard, racing or punching through the chop, goggles. The Shield 2-in-1 does both, and swaps with a quick snap closure.

Why goggles beat sunnies at speed

Sunnies stop glare. They do not stop spray. Once the ski is on the pin a face full of salt water is a blind spot you did not plan for, and in a race pack it is worse, because the rider in front is making the spray on purpose. A sealed goggle keeps the lens clear, the foam keeps it comfortable for a full sesh, and a floating design means a wipeout does not cost you the pair. Polarised lenses cut the glare off the flats so you read the chop instead of squinting at it.

Fit and care

Snug enough that the foam seals on your cheekbones without pinching, strap over the shell of the lid, and gel grippers doing the rest. Rinse in fresh water after a salt session, dry out of direct sun, and keep the lens in a bag between rides so the anti-scratch coating stays that way.
