Mens board shorts that move with you

A boardie has one job on the water and another on the way home, and a good one does both without you noticing. Most of the range is stretch polyester, a lot of it 4-way stretch with spandex, in 18 to 22 inch outseams, with quick-dry fabric that sheds water on the walk from the ramp to the car. Off the ski at eleven, dry at the pub by one.

Choose the cut

• Jet-Lite elasticated — the grab-and-go boardie: 18 inch leg, elastic waist with a tie and a Lycra fly, ultra-lite quick-dry fabric with a performance gusset and a reinforced back panel. Tradies wear them on site all week; that tells you how much they cop.
• Rx, Vault, Moto and Pulse Streamliner — the fixed-waist classics: tie closure, zipper fly, 19 to 22 inch outseams and the Factory Racing Division graphics that come straight out of the pits.
• F5 — 20 inch leg, stretch polyester with 8% spandex, dual zippered side pockets, a self-fabric waistband and triple-stitched crotch panels. The long one.
• Sindy Sinn and Tom Hadley collabs — Sindy's linework on a 4-way stretch cotton and polyester blend at 19 inches; Tom Hadley's four-colour screenprint on 100% recycled 4-way stretch polyester at 18, with an elastic drawcord waist and woven JTPLT badges. Built to be seen on the dock.

Built for the water, worn everywhere

Quick-dry means the boardies you wore behind the boat all arvo are the boardies you wear to dinner. Stretch means you can climb back onto the ski from the water without the seams telling you about it. Sizes run 28 to 44; fixed-waist styles fit like your jeans, the elasticated Jet-Lite gives a size either way, and the size guide settles it if you are between.

Boardies, rideshorts or walkshorts

Board shorts are the water-first cut. Rideshorts add a stitched-in neoprene liner for the long sesh in the seat of the ski, and walkshorts are the cotton-canvas everyday cut; both live on the mens shorts page. Pair the boardies with a mens rashie for the sun and a heavyweight tee for after.
