Don't Be A Wally
Safety is everyone’s responsibility when out on the water, follow this quick guide to help keep everyone safe out on the water.
1. Be Prepared
Set yourself up for success, before you get out on the water. Follow our simple check list to ensure that you have everything you will need:
- Life Vests for all aboard
- Drinking Water
- Sun Protection
- Tow Rope
- Watercraft Fuelled
There are other items that you might want to add to this list. Remember, it is better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.
2. Be Educated
Whether it’s your first time out on
the water, or you’re a seasoned
professional, it never hurts to
brush up on your local boating
and towing laws. These laws are
updated frequently and different
waterways will have different laws
and regulations.
Before you head out, ensure that
your riders and spotter know their hand signals. We have a handy guide to get you started.
3. Start Slow
If it is your first time towing, start slow. The speed of the rider on a whip will be far greater than what your speedometer is saying. You can always speed up if they give you the signal.
Whenever you are towing anyone, on any equipment, you must have an observer.
4. Pack Down
When you are done for the day, ensure that you leave your area the same way you found it. We all need to do our part to keep our waterways clean for the next generation.
You will also want to ensure that you give everything a good clean, the boat, the PWC, vests and gear, especially if you have been in salt water.
