The full rundown on Kids Watersports Gear & Youth Apparel
Kids watersports gear and youth apparel, from the vest out
Dress a kid for the water from the vest out and the rest falls into place. Every kids life jacket in the range is approved to Australian Standard AS 4758 with the level on the product page: most are Level 50S, the jet ski, wake and tube level, and The Cause Kids also comes in Red and Yellow Level 50, the high-vis colourways Queensland requires on a PWC in partially smooth and open waters. Which one your kid needs depends on your state and your water, so read the Australian life jacket regulations guide first. Then the wetsuit, then the rashie, then the tee for the drive home.
Life jackets
Kids life jackets run from the Cause Infant at size 1–2 through the Cause Kids for boat days, tube runs and riding pillion, to the Freeride and X1 wake vests for the grom already riding. EcoPrene on most of them, Freelite buoyancy foam and buckles small hands cannot undo by accident. Sized by chest and weight, never by age, and never bought to grow into.
Wetsuits and race johns
The Flight youth 2/2mm springsuit and 3/2mm fullsuit keep them in the water once it turns, and the Rx, RX Vault and Vault youth race johns with EVA Pro-Tech knee and shin pads are the real race kit in youth sizes: 360 Stretch neoprene, YKK zips and Jet-Loc seams, the same build as the mens. The Rx youth race jacket goes over the john when it cools off. All of it is on kids wetsuits, and a wetsuit is warmth and impact gear, never flotation: the life jacket goes over the top, sized with the suit on.
Rashies, hydro tees and swimwear
Girls and kids long sleeve rashies, the Corp and Posse short sleeve girls rashies, the girls one-piece swimsuit and the quick-dry Jet-Lite hydro tees, nearly all rated UPF 50+ with the rating on the product page. Sunscreen is gone at the first jump off the back; the rashie is still on at the ramp. The lot is on kids rashies.
Tees, boardies and the drive home
The High Flyer, Yowie and Snakebite kids tees in 180 GSM cotton, the Jet-Lite elasticated youth boardshort in stretch, chlorine-resistant fabric with triple-stitch construction, and the hydro tees that double as both: kids clothing has the dry-land half of the range, with the tees and tops broken out on youth tops.
One rule for sizing all of it
Two kids the same age are two different sizes, so everything here is sized off a chest measurement, and the size guide has the numbers. Life jacket: buckle up on dry land, lift at the shoulders, and if it slides past the chin it is too big. Wetsuit and rashie: snug, no folds. Tee: go up. Buy the safety gear for the kid you have now and the cotton for the kid they are about to be.
