2022 BOARDSTOCK
The 2022 Boardstock Cable Wake event was held the 1st weekend of April at the Bli Bli Aquapark on the Sunshine Coast.
After an event rescheduling due to localised flooding on the Sunshine Coast a month earlier, the cable park crew got back together and returned to Bli Bli with good vibes and good times!
This was the events 15th year and it is still the largest and most popular cable park contest in Australia.
The Jetpilot crew and team came together with all the other supporting brands and wake community to enjoy the riding and atmosphere that Boardstock brings.
The Saturday feature was the KING OF THE KICKERS event and had riders hitting 2 x kickers and showcasing their 2 best kicker hits. The young groms were ripping in early and this continued throughout the day with all divisions from U/10 boys and girls all the way through to the Pros who brought out some heavy and technical tricks which had the crowd stoked out.
Sunday was the RAIL JAM event which sees the scoring of all obstacles around the park with the riders best lines & hits on display. The heats were hotly contested with some sick riding from everyone. Again, the groms put on an amazing display of junior riding, the 13’s were crushing it, the 17’s were ripping and it was all capped off by the Pros who again had the crowd peaking on the variety, skill and style of some of their lines. It was a super close result for a lot of the divisions and the judges did an amazing job.
Our young team of riders had a great weekend of riding with plenty of fun rounded out with some great podium results. We are always proud of our team in both their riding, attitudes and support within the cable wake community.
Busty Dunn lead the way once again in the Pro Men’s division taking the Win for King Of Kicker and then 2nd in the Rail Jam to round out a solid weekend. Busty is looking to set himself up for a huge 2022 and is soon travelling overseas to compete.
Jake Heatley cleaned up in U13 Boys and claimed wins in both King of Kicker & Rail Jam. The youngest of the Heatley Boys was stomping everything and continues to be the epitome of riding and having fun at the same time. Michal John Jnr took home a 2nd place finish in the kickers event and then a respectable 6th in the Rail Jam.
Multiple time World Champion boat rider Mackenzie McCarthy dropped in to the comp with a quick cameo appearance & rounded out the podium with a 3rd place in the Pro Womens Rail Jam.
Local Bli Bli park rider Skye Herbert rode well and took out 2 x 2nd place finishes behind a very hard to beat Charlie Gimson (Penrith) who will no doubt step up to Pro Level next time around.
Big shout out to Ben Heatley who was ripping all Boardstock and will be one to watch in the coming years. It was his first official comp riding in Pros and at only 17 years of age he had some incredible lines and runs to come away with 4th place in each event respectively.
Jackson Axford also had his first run in Pros since stepping up from the U17 division. Jackson rode great and held it down all weekend long proving that he will continue to rise and get better with each Pro Level event he rides in.
We had such an epic time out there with everyone and we already have the dates marked for next year!
A huge thank you to the team at Bli Bli for hosting the event, also all of the Riders, Parents, Officials, Staff, Sponsors, Photographers, Commentators and everyone who made it such a cool weekend.
