The 2022 Jetpilot SCX Freeride Comp is the largest freeride event in Australia.
This year we worked closely with the event organisers to evolve the format to include more ride time, more competition and an integrated head to head Pro Format to determine the 2022 Australian Champion.
Competitors from all across Australia made the trip to Alexandra Headlands on the Sunshine Coast for the April event which is now in its 4th year and has grown to become the home of the Australian Freeride Championships using IFWA scoring systems for the event.
The SCX Freeride showcased a range of divisions for both the amateur and pro riders alike.
It is an exciting event and despite some small rainy sessions the swell was pumping and the crowd was witness to some huge aerials and amazing surf riding which kept them entertained throughout weekend. The head to head Pro format was very exciting to watch as the best freeriders in Australia battled to edge each other out and advance to the next round. There was some very close heats and it was cool to see the competition between them increase in intensity as each stage stepped up to another level of riding.
Current IFWA World Champion, current World Number 1 and Jetpilot Team Rider - Joel Barry put on a brilliant display of talent and courage as he once again asserted his dominance on the Australian Freeride scene. Joel is a tremendous ambassador for the sport and was a very deserving winner of the 2022 Australian Freeride Championship.
Next years SCX Freeride event will be bigger and better and Jetpilot is proud to be a long time partner and supporter of the event.
