You Have Questions? We Have Answers!

Are womens life jackets different from the men's vests?

In the cut, yes. Jetpilot's ladies vests are built on a women's pattern with an anatomical fit, so the foam sits where it should and the vest does not ride up when you get flung. The Freelite foam, the EcoPrene, the Hidden Supergrip handle and the AS 4758 approval are the men's spec, not a softer one.

Level 50 or Level 50S, which one do I need?

Same float, different colour rule. Level 50S is the jet ski and tow-sports vest, any colour, and the minimum on a PWC in every state. Level 50 is the same vest in high-vis, and Queensland requires it on a PWC in partially smooth and open waters, which is why the Cause Ladies comes in Red and Yellow Level 50. Bay, river, dam: 50S. Out past the bar in Queensland: Level 50. Check your state before you buy.

What life jacket do I need for a jet ski?

An AS 4758 foam vest at Level 50S or, where your state requires high-vis beyond smooth water, Level 50. Cause Ladies, with the Hidden Supergrip handle for the passenger, and Eden are the PWC vests in the women's range. Check your state's rules in the regulations guide, then pick the cut.

Is a life vest the same as a life jacket, and what is a PFD?

Same thing, three names. Life jacket, life vest and PFD (personal flotation device) all mean the AS 4758 approved jacket you wear on the water. The old Type 1, 2 and 3 labels are gone; the level on the jacket, 50S or 50, is what counts.

What are the new Australian standards for life jackets?

AS 4758 is the standard, and every vest here is approved to it. Jackets made to the old AS 1512, AS 1499 and AS 2260 standards are being phased out on dates set by each state, so check the vest that came with the boat before it goes back on. The regulations guide links each state's rules.

How do I choose the right size womens life jacket?

Size off a chest measurement, not a dress size, using the size guide, and measure with the layers you ride in: rashie, springsuit or steamer. Ladies vests run 6 to 18, the 360 runs S to 4XL. Buckle up on dry land and lift at the shoulders; past your ears and it is too big.

Can I use one vest for the ski, the wake and the boat?

Most of the range crosses over. Cause Ladies does the ski, the boat and the wake; X1 Ladies, Allure and Aurora are wake-first; Eden is the PWC vest. Match the level to your state and the water, and the cut to what you do most.

The full rundown on Womens Life Jackets, Vests & PFDs

Womens life jackets, cut for women

Every womens life jacket here is approved to Australian Standard AS 4758, with the level on the product page. Most are Level 50S, the jet ski, wake and tow-sports level. The Red and Yellow Level 50 colourways of the Cause Ladies are the same vest in high-vis, made for riders who take the ski beyond smooth water in states that require it, Queensland included. There is one Level 150 inflatable for the boat, and it never goes on a ski. Read the Australian life jacket regulations guide, then pick the cut. These are ladies life jackets built on a women's pattern, not a men's vest with the sizes shifted.

The ranges

Cause Ladies — the recreational PWC vest in a women's cut. Segmented-fit neoprene, Freelite buoyancy foam and the Hidden Supergrip handle for the passenger you are hauling back onto the sled. Red and Yellow Level 50 colourways for the riders who need them.
Eden — the ladies PWC life jacket.
X1 Ladies in Pacer, Luna and Isla — the wake vests. 100% 360 Stretch neoprene that flexes through spins, grabs and carves, Freelite bevelled-edge foam, an anatomical fit and a PK Lok zipper.
Allure and Aurora — the wake and lifestyle vests. Aurora's stitch-through thin-profile build and sublimated gradient is the one that gets asked about on the dock.
360 — the lightweight unisex vest in 100% EcoPrene with a Hyper Flex expansion panel and back gusset, for riders who want the jacket to disappear the moment the ski is on the pin.

Fit and sizing

Ladies vests run in numbered sizes 6 to 18, the 360 in S through 4XL. Size off a chest measurement rather than a dress size with the size guide, and measure with the layers you ride in. Buckle up on dry land and lift at the shoulders: a vest that rides up in the water is not doing its job.

Same spec, not the soft version

EcoPrene on most of the range, Jetpilot's neoprene made with recycled bottles and around 30% lighter than standard. Freelite bevelled-edge buoyancy foam. YKK zips, quick positive buckles, the same Hidden Supergrip handle the men's Cause carries. Cut for her, not shrunk and pinked. Colourways rotate with the season, so if the one you want is there, that is the time.

Riding the ski, jet ski life jackets lists every PWC vest in one place. Behind the boat, wakeboard life jackets. For the cold mornings, womens wetsuits.
