About the Freeride Girls Life Jacket

Slim and flexible, so she can ride, fall and get straight back up.

Learning to ride means plenty of falls, and a bulky vest gets in the way. The Freeride Girls uses a stitch-through design that keeps the foam thin, with diagonal segments and bevelled-edge Freelite foam, so it flexes as she moves and leaves her arms free. The EcoPrene shell keeps it light, and the contoured fit, YKK zip and waist buckle keep it snug.

Approved to Australian Standard AS 4758 Level 50S.

A kid's vest should feel snug when it's dry. Too loose, and it can ride up over her chin in the water.

Lifejackets are sized by weight. Choose the size that matches her weight today, not the one she'll grow into next summer: a vest that's too big can ride up.

When she's towed
Every state except WA requires an approved lifejacket when you're towed, and Level 50S is accepted in all of them. WA recommends one, and requires it for slalom. Every state and the NT also require an observer in the boat.

Kids on boats
Several states have extra lifejacket rules for children on smaller boats, and the ages and boat sizes differ, so check your state's rules before you head out.

Look after it
Rinse it in fresh water after every sesh, dry it out of the sun, keep it away from fuel and store it hung up, not crushed under the esky. Check the zip, buckle and foam before she rides, and replace it if it's torn, crushed or badly faded.

Questions riders ask

What size do I need?

Go by your child's weight, not their age, and pick the size that fits them now: a vest that's too big can ride up over their chin. Match their weight and chest to the chart under Find my size. Sizes run 8 to 14, and the S26 boys' vest goes to 16.

Do kids need a lifejacket when they're towed?

Every state except WA requires an approved lifejacket when you're towed, and Level 50S is accepted in all of them. WA recommends one, and requires it for slalom. Check your state's rules before you head out.

Freeride or Cause Kids?

The Freeride is the wake vest: stitch-through foam keeps it thin, and it's shaped for young riders so it moves with them on the board. The Cause Kids is the boat-day vest: a relaxed fit, a front zip and two buckles, and a crotch strap on the smaller sizes, from 15 kg. See our kids' life jackets.
