The Midnight Black keeps it dark, with a tonal JTPLT on the chest and back and no bright trim. It's the same Freeride Boys underneath: tapered for a young rider's build, stitched thin for less bulk, and finished in a light EcoPrene shell, in sizes right up to 16.

Approved to Australian Standard AS 4758 Level 50S, the special-purpose level for watersports like wakeboarding.

The Fit

Tapered Fit
Shaped for young riders and slimmer at the waist, with stitch-through foam that keeps the vest thin so it moves with them.

Tight Fit = Safe Fit
A kid's vest should feel snug when it's dry. Too loose, and it can ride up over their chin in the water.

Pick the size they are now
Lifejackets are sized by weight. Choose the size that matches your child's weight today, not the one they'll grow into next summer: a vest that's too big can ride up. Each size's weight range is printed on the vest's label.

Check it on them
Zip it, clip the buckle and lift the vest at the shoulders: it shouldn't ride up past their chin or ears.

When they're towed
Every state except WA requires an approved lifejacket when you're towed, and Level 50S is accepted in all of them. WA recommends one, and requires it for slalom. Every state and the NT also require an observer in the boat.

Kids on boats
Several states have extra lifejacket rules for children on smaller boats, and the ages and boat sizes differ, so check your state's rules before you head out.

Look after it
Rinse it in fresh water after every sesh, dry it out of the sun, keep it away from fuel and store it hung up, not crushed under the esky. Check the zip, buckle and foam before they ride, and replace it if it's torn, crushed or badly faded.

Freeride Boys Life Jacket

The Freeride Boys is Jetpilot's wake vest for young riders: tapered for a smaller build, stitched thin so there's less bulk, and made in a 100% EcoPrene shell, rated 30% lighter than traditional neoprene. It comes in three looks, from orange-trimmed Black to two-tone Blue and all-dark Midnight Black. Approved to Australian Standard AS 4758 Level 50S.

Stitch-Through Foam

Thin Enough to Ride In.

The stitching runs right through the foam, splitting it into thin blocks. There's less bulk around a young rider's chest, the foam stays put, and the vest bends between the blocks as they twist, fall and get back up.
