About the Phase Hyperflex Life Jacket

Room to move through the middle, built for the wake.

The Phase Hyperflex is a wake vest with room to move: a Hyperflex expansion panel across the midsection stretches as you twist, press and land, so it stays comfortable behind the boat all session.

Approved to Australian Standard AS 4758 Level 50S, accepted for towed riders in every state that requires a lifejacket, and on a jet ski on smooth water.

Built for: wakeboarding and wakesurfing, with jet ski crossover.

The Fit

Regular Fit
Cut regular and contoured, with a Hyperflex panel that gives extra room to move through the midsection. It fits comfortably across broader builds, from S to 4XL.

Tight Fit = Safe Fit
It should feel tight when it's dry. It gives a little once it's wet, and a loose vest can ride up or slip off when you hit the water.

Find your size
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, then check your weight:

S: 95 cm chest, 40–60 kg
M: 100 cm chest, 60–70 kg
L: 105 cm chest, 70 kg+
XL: 112 cm chest, 70 kg+
2XL: 118 cm chest, 70 kg+
3XL: 125 cm chest, 70 kg+
4XL: 145 cm chest, 70 kg+

Between sizes? Try both. Zip it, clip the buckle and get a mate to lift it at the shoulders: it shouldn't ride up past your chin or ears.

Behind the boat
Every state except WA requires an approved lifejacket when you're towed, and Level 50S is accepted in all of them. WA recommends one, and requires it for slalom. Every state and the NT also require an observer in the boat.

On the ski
Level 50S is accepted on a jet ski on smooth and enclosed water (rivers, lakes, dams and sheltered bays) in every state. Queensland requires Level 50 on a jet ski in partially smooth and open water, and Tasmania requires Level 100 or above beyond sheltered water.

Look after it
Rinse it in fresh water after every sesh, dry it out of the sun, keep it away from fuel and store it hung up, not crushed under the esky. Check the zip, buckle and foam before you ride, and replace it if it's torn, crushed or badly faded.

Questions riders ask

Is a wake vest a lifejacket?

This one is. The Phase Hyperflex is approved to Australian Standard AS 4758 Level 50S: the special-purpose level for watersports. It floats the same as Level 50 and comes in any colour.

Do I need a lifejacket when I'm towed?

Every state except WA requires an approved lifejacket when you're towed, and Level 50S is accepted in all of them. WA recommends one, and requires it for slalom. Check your state's rules before you head out.

What size do I need?

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, and match it to the chart under Find my size: S is for a 95 cm chest, 4XL for 145 cm. It's cut regular and contoured and should feel tight when it's dry; the Hyperflex panel gives extra room to move through the midsection.

Is this vest legal on a jet ski in my state?

This colourway is Level 50S, approved to Australian Standard AS 4758. Level 50S is accepted on a jet ski on smooth and enclosed water (rivers, lakes, dams and sheltered bays) in every state. Queensland requires Level 50 once you're past smooth water, and Tasmania requires Level 100 or above beyond sheltered water. Rules change by state, so check yours before you launch. What's the difference between Level 50 and Level 50S?

They float the same. Level 50 comes in high-vis colours, so you're easier to spot, and it's the one Queensland requires past smooth water. Level 50S comes in every other colour and is the ski, wake and tow vest on smooth water in every state. Neither will turn you face-up on its own, so both are for riders who can swim, with help close by.

Is this an impact vest?

No. It's a lifejacket, approved to AS 4758 and tested to keep you afloat. An impact vest without an AS 4758 level mark isn't a lifejacket, so it doesn't count where one is required on the ski or behind the boat.

What if the size is wrong?

Swap it or send it back for a refund within 21 days of purchase. Sale items are the exception. Returns and exchanges has the steps.

Amazing life jacket

Comfortable but
Tight, when I held it next to my other XL life jacket this was more like a large so it is quite snug. Other than that, worn it once - nice & light, and the love/ grab handles are great!
